12 січня в містє Пирятин відбулося засідання правління Асоціації малих міст України (АММУ). Під час засідання присутні підвели підсумки роботи Асоціації в 2017 році та визначили основні напрямки на 2018.
Протягом 2017 року тривала реалізація різних проектів. Зокрема, „Місцеве самоврядування та верховенство права в Україні“, що впроваджується Академією Фольке Бернадотта в партнерстві з АММУ, Києво-Могилянською академією та соціологічною агенцією ФАМА за фінансової підтримки Шведського агенства з міжнародного розвитку (SIDA); „Підтримка ролі громад в управлінні місцевим розвитком в Україні“ за фінансової підтримки Фонду Чарльза Стюарта Мотта.
Крім цього, розпочалася реалізація проекту „Мери за економічне зростання“, розпочатий Європейським Союзом, проведено ХІІ Щорічну конференцію малих міст України, ІІ Всеукраїнський фестиваль громад „Віче в Київській Русі“, спільну конференцію з GIZ „Енергоефективність у малих містах. Виклики та рішення“. Пирятинська громада брала участь в усіх цих проектах і заходах.
Новообраний виконавчий директор АММУ Антоніна Домікан розповіла про основні завдання на 2018 рік: продовжити роботу щодо реалізації проекту Академії Фольке Бернадотта та проекту Фонду Чарльза Стюарта Мотта, провести ХІІ Щорічну конференцію та розпочати співпрацю з Китайською діаспорою в Україні.
У грудні 2017 року було підписано меморандум про співпрацю між АММУ та Китайською діаспорою, що передбачає спільну організацію ряду заходів, створення проектного офісу на базі АММУ, підготовку та реалізацію проектів зі студентського обміну між країнами, організацію візитів китайських делегацій та інше.
