Територія Олевської ОТГ обростає стихійними сміттєзвалищами, що в будь-який момент може призвести до екологічної катастрофи. Так як серед сміття можуть бути; джерела епідемій, ртутні лампи, батарейки, хімічні відходи та інше токсічне сміття.
Звалища сміття, влаштовують прямо в полі, вода проходячи через сміття, потрапляє в грунтові води, а відповідно токсичні хімікати потрапляють до криниць, так само в річку і озера. Що може привести до непоправних наслідків для здоров’я людей, хвороб тварин, погіршення санітарного стану і екологічної катастрофи.

Проблему з організацією стихійних сміттєзвалищ, можна було списати на несвідомих місцевих жителів які викидають пакети зі сміттям, поруч з трасою або в лісі, але проблема набагато глибше. На ці звалища вантажними машинами звозять сміття фірми котрі мають пряме відношення до влади і міського голови Олега Омельчука так само фірмою КП «Олевськ-ресурсінвест»
В 200 метрах від Олевська, в напрямку дороги на село Хмелівка, біля колишньої ферми і лензавода, владою Олевська організовано звалище з побутовими та будівельними відходами. Туди вантажними машинами звозять сміття, яке збирається у населення і підприємців фірмою мера, будівельне сміття після міських ремонтів і грунт зі сміттям після очищення канав.
На місці цього звалища активістами СтопКору був зафіксований ЗІЛ-130 з побутовим сміттям. Зі слів водія, вони працюють в КП Олевськ-ресурсінвест », однак з огляду на те що сміття було в сміттєвих пакетах, то цією машиною вивозилося сміття за вивезення якого платить населення. Відразу по гарячих слідах активісти СтопКора звернулися в Олевське відділення поліції із заявою.

Ось звалище будівельних відходів, біля бази ПП БУДПОСЛУГИ №1 і ДП БУДПОСЛУГИ №2. Також там викинуто бордюри, що залишилися після ремонту доріг. Навіщо їх треба було знімати, ламати тротуари, і на їх місце ставити інший бордюр? — це риторичне питання.
І дивно, чому цілі бордюри не поставлені на облік, або невикористані за призначенням, на інших вулицях. Платити ж за них не треба.
Частково вирішити проблему можна, шляхом сортування сміття. Починаючи з 1 січня 2018 року всі українці повинні сортувати сміття, так як несортовані відходи буде заборонено переправляти на полігони. Така норма міститься в законі «Про відходи», який був прийнятий ще в 2012 році.
З незрозумілих причин сміттєві баки, які вже треба використовувати для збору сортованого сміття, стоять на базі ПП «Будпослугі №1» і роз’яснювальна робота щодо сортування сміття з населенням, навіть не починалася.
